By default, there are no extensions installed with QlikView. You can easily check this:

1.Open QlikView Desktop.
2.Create a new blank QlikView document.
3.Switch to WebView: Select View > Turn on/off WebView, or click the WebView button in the Design toolbar.
4.Right click anywhere in the sheet and select New Sheet Object.
5.This displays the New Sheet Object dialog where you can see a list of standard QlikView objects. If you select the Extension Objects item in the accordion you will notice that the list is empty.

You can install extensions from an extension package:

1.Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the.qar extension package file.
2.Double-click the extension package file.
3.QlikView is launched and a dialog is displayed which confirms that extensions have been successfully installed.
4.If you return to the QlikView document, you can see that there are now extensions available in the New Sheet Object dialog.

Using extensions

Installing QAR files to QlikView Desktop

It is easy to install QAR files for use within QlikView Desktop. Just double-click on the QAR file and QlikView will start automatically, displaying a confirmation dialog that the content of the QAR file has been installed to your computer.

You can then switch to WebView and drag and drop the new extension to your QlikView application.

Depending on the Operating System and the type of extension (object or document extension), the QAR file extracts to:

Windows 7, 8.1, 10

\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects

\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Document

Deploying QAR files to QlikView Server

When deploying an object extension or a document extension to QlikView Server, you must manually copy and paste the content of the QAR file to the server.

Depending on the Operating System and the type of extension (object or document extension), the QAR file extracts to:

Windows Server 2008, 2012:

\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects

\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Document
