This function returns the negative binomial distribution.

Syntax

NEGBINOM.DIST(x,r,p,cumulative)

Arguments

This function has these arguments:

An integer representing the number of failures in trials |

An integer representing the threshold number of successes |

p |
Probability of success on each trial A number between 0 and 1 |

cumulative |
A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, this function returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function |

Remarks

The number of successes is fixed and the number of trials is variable. If p is less than 0 or greater than 1, the function returns the #NUM! error value. If x is less than 0 an error is returned. If r is less than 1 an error is returned.

Data Types

Accepts numeric data for all arguments. Returns numeric data.
